“As a developer, you are going to experience technical pressure to collect user data, because it is useful for debugging and generating system performance metrics.
You are also going to experience business pressure to collect user data, because it is commercially valuable.
However, that data may be putting the health, happiness, wealth, and even lives of your users at risk.
Sounds dramatic, right?
But it's true. Tragically true.
Any morally aware developer should question the need, risk, and greater ramifications of any piece of personal data that is gathered and stored by the company they work for. Even though the company won't tell you to do this.
Evidence is that they don't care.
