Use cases for AI

A recent article in The Neuron provided a list of some use cases for AI.
I have seen some of these use cases in other articles, but having this list was helpful as it provided food for thought.
#1, 4 and 6
Writing emails, auto-updating CRMs, and advertising are all one use case for me. And they are not new. They fall under lead generation. And this type of technology has been around for many, many years.
Some improvements and pricing changes exist, but the use case is the same. Send out emails to a set of contacts on a set schedule. The leads then get passed to sales, hopefully resulting in revenue for the company.
Customer service — Wow! The only use case I see here is companies saving money on employing people but ticking off their customers in the process.
The only way to get good customer service is to talk to someone who knows their product and company and how to solve your problem.
Yelling into a phone, typing back and forth in a chat box, and getting links to possible answers are not use cases.

My experience is in business process automation and records management/document management.
I didn’t see anything on that list in this area. And I am not surprised.
I have worked in the industry for over 30 years. The improvements, like automatic capture/ classification, automatic filing, and metadata population, have been around for a long time.
The parts that still need to be implemented are data management and document/data deletion (records retention).
Could this be a use case for AI?
Many companies and government agencies type data into numerous databases, do a poor job correcting and updating what is collected, and fail to delete data when it is no longer needed.
Document and data retention is more psychological and emotional.
The technology to automatically purge documents and data has existed for many years. However, people don’t want to delete it even though it has been documented and proven by organizations like AIIM and ARMA that there is more risk in keeping it.
Every one of us has data in some system, at some company, or in a government agency. I want my data completely purged after it is used for whatever purpose it was collected for.
You would think an AI could take care of this. However, our data appears more at risk than it has been with all the scraping of information for AI training purposes.
Putting this aside and separating business from personal, my hope for AI is to solve humanity’s big problems.
I know there are companies and people out there trying to do this. You wouldn’t know it because all we hear about are the billionaires and companies that haven’t shown much care for the world, only money.
I am cautiously hopeful.
